redmongoose.net

What is this thing? I thought you hated blogs.
I originally started this blog as a way to keep busy and involved in the art world while I was between schools–I didn’t want to get lazy and unmotivated.
Since then, I’ve also used it to promote myself and my work, as well as distribute tutorials and resources to people interested in art. The tutorials are mostly Photoshop-centric, and (currently) the site also offers textures and templates to be used with SecondLife, released under a GPL.
Why are they free? It’s more of a hobby, and I get more satisfaction out of seeing that 2.5GB of my textures were downloaded in the first fifteen days of release. So I know people are having fun with them.
If anyone’s particularly overcome, I included a donate button, and that’s good enough for me.
I’ve also combined my blog with my resumé (visual arts, not photography modeling), my gallery, and I’ve begun publishing my work as print media!

But why is it called RedMongoose.net?
I tend to jump between online handles a lot, but I guess I’m kind of stuck with this one as my primary, since it’s the domain name and the site’s spread through the internet like a fungus. My fictional character, Sini, had a pet mongoose named Spade Mongoose. It was genetically engineered to be red, which was my favourite colour.
That’s all there is to it.
I also go by Amika, SiniRuine, RubyRush, Spade, and a bunch of others; RedMongoose just happens to be the handle that best consolidates my identity.
Cool
bro.
